Hi all,
My name is Jaala, I live in AZ and have four kids ages 11,7,3,and 2. We are homeschooling this year for the first time and loving it. Although sometimes I do miss having an "outside" job, I can tell you I am very grateful to be spending more time with them, finally.I have an awesome business working from home and I am also the creator of AZHFC/Youth For Change, a new movement uniting compassionate and idealistic youth and families. Right now we are operating in just AZ, but am hoping to expand our horizons someday! I am looking forward to talking with everyone!

She does still need you, but in changing ways<G>......She is ONLY 13......She will need you to listen and understand when she needs to talk to you about "teenage" stuff.... I do want to caution you though about treating her like she is older.....Let her be a teenaged girl.....don't expect her feelings to be at the same level as her ability to do things. And be careful what responsibilities you entrust her with, so that social services don't pay you a visit.
Best wishes!

Hello,

It is very normal and common for teenagers to feel and act this way at this stage. My niece is of the same age and is behaving the same way. It is only a phase; she will come back to you. She is only trying to show to all that she is not the little girl anymore, and that they are so many things she can do on her own.

Just tell her that you are a friend and mother; and you will always be there for her if she needs anything. She will come back to you. Remember that our generation is different that theirs.

The good news, she is not doing anything harmful. What if she is doing what she is doing to have your attention? or may she is seeking appreciation?. May be you need to share with her how proud you are of her.

Prayers and Blessings,

Fatima :)

Awww, I'm sorry this is hard for you. I really don't have any great advice. My only thought is that she will always need you in some regard. You just need to figure out what that is. As she is getting older her needs from you will change. I have 4 daughters, my oldest is 15 and she is very independent but she still needs me to help her study for tests. So really think about her and you will find something that she needs that will fufill you.

It may not be a good thing but it works for me and I guess part of the reason I choose RN as my career. Lately my daughter has been staying at her girlfriends' for the weekend, has been getting up for school without my help, has been doing things for herself that I have been doing since my oldest was younger and I know I should be grateful that she is who she is, but, I have been having a real hard time dealing with it. I cry when Im alone and think about it, I have sleepless nights over it, I am just a mess. I know it probably sounds ridiculous to some of you and to others its something you cannot wait to happen. But for me, its turning me into a basket case. While I have my home, my business, my other daughter, my hobbies, there are just so many things to keep me occupied,

Dear Fatima,
Its ok. eating pasta or white rice in usual portion (its about 100gms). But, for most women who have a weight problems it's not wise to consume those food, especially after 7pm. They better change the menu in afternoon and dinner. I've read Karen's mail about this, and I think that's nice for our healthy live.

Would you walk over to the trash can and toss a $20 bill? Then don't do it at the grocery store!!! Those foods do not have the nutrients your body needs. They make you hungry an hour later, hence, you will be eating more often! And what will you eat? More of the fake foods!

Thank you! I couldn't agree more.
My boys will NOT be getting the vaccine. Just because they come out with more and more vaccines doesn't mean your children NEED them!
No one will tell you the risks and things that vaccines can cause, but dr.s will push you to get the vaccines because that is what THEY ARE TOLD TO DO.
STOP listening the media. Their job is to hype things up. Trauma and Drama sells. ONLY if you believe it and get sucked in.
There are too many politics in medicine today. Don't get me started!

What is your favorite indulgence during the Holidays?

How do you spoil yourself? Or your family?

I tend to bake a lot more than I usually do, which spoils my family. :) In preparation for the holidays, I'm going to try to get a nice, fresh haircut today - it's a little bit of indulgence for me!
