You have all the tools without the Benadryl. You were wise to use the Lime, it is great for the ear along with basil, lavender and Frank. When putting the cotton in the ear make sure you do not put too much on the cotton. You only want enough for the fumes to get into the ear not the oil itself.
I would be putting OnGuard on the bottom of their feet also.

I run down stairs and grab the benedryl to dry her out asap (i know i know but she wouldn't sleep otherwise! serious pain) and i grabbed my lime and debated between melaleuca and lavender, decided to go with lavender. and rubbed both those around her ear lime first over the lymphnode first then lavender all around. so now it left me wondering if lime should now be added for basic ear infection first aid because of its decongestant and lymph drainage abilities.. oh i grabbed and administered before researching, now i'm feeling a little proud like i'm getting the hang of this. I haven't put anything on a cotton ball yet.. but i'm not sure what i'll do there.any further thoughts? she's sleep now but probably just until the benedryl wears off (oh this is what the pediatrician told me to give her every night before bed when she had a cold to keep the fluid from collecting in her ear, this is also the first time i've done this)--
