sorry I wanted to add this...I put the antifungal cream (off brand kind) on the parts that flared up the most and it really helped with the temporary ithching and gave him a brake.

I don't know if this will help you at all, but if you would trust someone such as an Iridologist,it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.  They have helped my neices son who has sever allergies and my neice who has struggeled with some health issues and wieght and she is doing so good and looks great now. I am also undergoing work on my thyroid and it is slow but I am seeing good things.
