[Everything doTERRA] Loss of Smell - what to do?

My neighbor has lost his sense of smell, and I read in ME that
peppermint and basil are helpful, but there are no directions. I
don't know what caused his loss, and would like to give him some
samples if they will be helpful for him, and also to introduce him to
the oils. Has anyone had any experience with this?
