[Everything doTERRA] Re: Dogs and joints

I have a dog with hip dysplasia also. In a 15ml bottle filled with FCO
I add 2 drops frankincense, 2 drops deep blue, 4 drops white fir and 4
drops geranium. I apply it right to the hip joint by parting his fur
and putting a few drops of this blend right on his skin and do some
very gentle massage to increase circulation to the area. I do this
twice a day. I have been doing this fir about two months now and have
gotten incredible results! He is only three but he was already having
pain when he would get up from a down position. Now, he is jumping
right up. It really lightens my heart! It is so hard to see them in
pain. He is a big boy, 110 lbs, and I would use less on a smaller dog,
but your lab should do fine with this mixture.

At first I didn't dilute the oils enough, and he got a little
irritation on his skin, so I blended lavender and maleleuca in FCO and
it cleared right up. With the above blend, his skin is fine. Other
oils you might try blending are marjoram and cypress. They are good
for pain and circulation. I know hip dysplasia is a scary diagnosis,
but with a little experimentation, you can make your dog a lot more
comfortable. Good luck, Karen
