That son in law is me, and I would word what Pat said a bit differently. I don't use Peppermint to keep my blood pressure controlled, but being prone to HBP, I have a protocol I use to help maintain HBP, and I use Peppermint OFTEN. Not as part of the protocol, but it's very effective oil for me for angina, fatigue, mental acuity, and other things. So although it is not part of my HBP protocol, I have never known Peppermint to increase my BP. Having said that, I have read um... LOTS of Books and studies on many different kinds of essential oils, and I have never seen any studies or abstracts or professional warnings of proven note that any essential oils cause significant or dangerous increases in BP. If you are worried, have a cuff, and it's easy to take a reading after using an oil and see for yourself if an essential oil causes an increase. I'm sure if there were REAL dangers, studies, warnings and cautions from respected source, the professional health care community would make it obvious. Right now all I've ever seen in internet innuendo.
I have a son-in-law that keeps his Blood Pressure controlled with Peppermint. So you can see why we all avoid putting out a list. Some of the oils may work just fine for HBP and not so good with others. Its one of the reasons that muscle testing is a great way to test yourself.
