Re: [Everything doTERRA] Shelf Life and Heat Sensitivity of Oils

I've only ever made bath salts and lip balms, but when making lip balm I add the oil at the very end when the heat is turned off and stir it in right before pouring it into the molds. I melt everything on low heat, so it is done gradually and then the temp doesn't get too high too quickly. This hasn't destroyed the therapeutic value, to the best of my knowledge.

Hope that helps,
Rachel

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a shelf life of the oils... if cared for
properly, shouldn't they last indefinitely?

Also, when cooking and/or making soaps and balms with the essential
oils, does anyone have any info on the approximate temperature at
which the oils lose their therapeutic value?  It would be great to
know if anyone has experience and would like to share tips?

Thanks in advance!
Julie
