Re: [Everything doTERRA] Neurofibromatosis

Not really answering your problem... but I wanted to address the ear infection and wax build up. You might want to try rubbing basil around his ear. For me personally, it helped discharge a bit of wax at first, and thereafter it keeps ear infections at bay. I don't put it on everyday now, just whenever I feel my ear being tender.

Some background:
My husband has neurofibromatosis type 1 and is in his late 30s.  His
case is mild, was spontaneous, and doesn't have any health issues
other than a little acid reflux. He does have some small neurofibromas
over his body but they are not noticeable unless you are really
looking. He had one small neurofibroma removed from his chin thinking
it was a mole.  When he was a baby he had a tumor removed from the
right side of his head that was noncancerous. He has had many
surgeries on his ear and right side of the head, including putting in
a metal plate. From his right ear up to the ridge of the top of his
head, the skin is very loose and soft. He doesn't have much feeling or
hearing in his right ear making it difficult to know when he is
getting an ear infection until it's a bad one.  When he has wax build-
up it's a lot and is hard to get out.

Neurofibromatosis has no cure and in cases of NF1 are not life
threatening.

Our problem now:
A week ago; Friday, April 1, 2011; my husband woke up with a large
scalp hematoma on the side of his head, on the outside of the skull,
where all the surgeries have taken place. He had not suffered any
trauma to his head which is the typical cause of hematomas.  After
seeing several doctors and having a cat scan it was decided the
hematoma needed to be drained by a neurosurgeon. After the
neurosurgeon inserted a drain tube he spoke to me about the surgery.
He said there are 5 neurofibromas on that side and all of them were
full of blood. Everyone is puzzled as to why they filled with blood
without any trauma.  The neurosurgeon also had to make 2 large
incisions on his head and then seal it up with a ton of staples.  He
says we should see a NF specialist to determine whether or not the 5
neurofibromas should be removed.  We are going to see the
neurosurgeon's nurse on Monday, April 11, to have the staples and
drain tube removed. Since the surgery his head has been tightly
bandaged to help keep it from bleeding and I'm not allowed to remove
the dressing. During surgery he lost 24 ounces of blood.

What I have been doing:
Before surgery I applied helichrysum on the hematoma every hour for 4
days.  Then we found out it was 5 neurofibromas full of blood. Now I'm
applying frankincense on the swelling, every 2 -3 hours, which is not
covered by the bandages, across his forehead, and on the bottoms of
his feet.  My husband does not like taking oils orally.

What I plan on doing after the staples and drain tube are removed:
I'll apply helichrysum and frankincense directly on any swelling and
where all the staples were as well as apply to the bottom of his feet.

What I'd like to know:
What oils are the best to help get rid of swelling, infection, and
reduce the size of neurofibromas and scarring?  My fear is, since
these 5 neurofibromas have filled with blood once, they may do it
again and again.  I'm also afraid they will increase in size, which
would be so hard for my husband to have to deal with.  His face is
already a little disfigured, his right ear is lower than the other,
and the right side of his face is paralyzed.

If you have any recommendations or experience with NF I'd love to hear
from you.
Thank you.
