Hi there,

I use oils on my dogs and my daughter uses them on her cats all the time. Plus, one of my dogs recently had an ear infection so I'll tell you what I did...

I use an antibiotic roller: 10 drops each of on guard, oregano, and frankincense, plus FCO to fill a 5 mL roller. Then roll it on the pads of the cat's paws every couple of hours. For a dog I use 15 drops of each, but dilute it a bit more for a cat).

Then take a cotton ball and pull off a small piece. Put a drop of basil on the cotton ball and tuck it into the cat's ear canal, put one piece in each ear. I actually did that first and then left it there long enough to roll the antibiotic on the dog's paws. Then back to the ears--remove the cotton ball, and using a cotton swab (with someone's help to hold the cat), do your best to clean anything from the ear (a little FCO on the swab helps. With a dog, there's often brown stuff in there that needs to be cleaned out. Once that's done, I would put some frankincense on another piece of a cotton ball and wipe it from the ear canal up the ear to further clean and treat the ear. You can vary that part by using frankincense one time, then 2 hours later, use helichrysum, then later use a bit of lavender. With my dog, his long, floppy ear was sore from him scratching it, so I was mostly treating the skin.

Note that the aroma of all those oils also goes into the ear canal and helps that way.

Good luck!
Liz
