[Everything doTERRA] Re: ADD/ADHD

I have a child with ADD/ADHD. We have tried many things over the
years, and many things will work for the first 3 months. haha. There
is a strong placebo effect combined with a child's desire to meet
expectations; however, beyond 3 months not many things actually do
work. Most recently, I have tried Balance because I read that it helps
to balance the neurotransmitters. It does have a noticeable effect on
my child's behaviour and ability to interact. I am using it with
AromaTouch to help him get to sleep, and there is a residual effect
that lasts through the next day, and even for several days. I am
applying it on his back at bedtime, but you can also diffuse it.

Changes in diet can be very helpful, as of course what we eat has a
big part to play in what molecules are available for our brains to
work with. Whole food is always best. Avoid refined sugars and
artificial ingredients. Cleanse the digestive system with GX/PB Assist
and use the LLW for nutrition support. Try cutting out gluten and milk
products, many people have success in controlling some aspects of ADHD
this way.

My only comment about the use of "calming" oils is that the problem
with ADHD is not actually over-activity--it is that part of the brain
is UNDER active. The activity level is the brain's attempt to "wake
up" that part of the brain. That is why stimulants are used for
ADHD... they have a completely different effect on people who have
ADHD than they do for other (so-called normal) people. The root
problem is neurotransmitter imbalance, and I believe that all ADHD
drugs work by either stimulating or repressing neurotransmitter
activity (but not being a pharmacist, I can't say this without
reservation). I am very hopeful that Balance will prove to be one of
those therapies that works beyond the 3-month mark. We still have 2
months to go before I can say that it does, though.
