Home remedies, Folk Medicine, Homeopathic treatments and other "non-traditional" therapies and therapeutics have their place and it is a personal choice as to the type of care one chooses for oneself and ones family.

That said, this is a powerful forum and the recomendations as stated are non conforming and in a couple of citations down right wrong.  A world wide forum such as this has the potential to do a huge amount of good but also harm when personal choices are thrown
out into cyber space and presented as fact.

Wrong information can be dangerous; case in point the British Journal of Medicine having to withdraw and rebuke the published findings of a seriously flawed study of 12 children that led to work wide panic as to the cause of Autism.

The fact that they published it at all is seriously troubling but it makes my point that unsubstantiated information is dangerous.  It has been revealed that the doctor who published the article was actually a paid coinsultant to a pharmaceutical company and he had developed his own brand of a measels vaccine that would have made him Billions of dollars if the standard MMR was completelty withdrawn from the market.  It has been proven in huge studies of years duration followinjg maximum standards of research that childhood immunizations do not cause Autism.

Even if you believe they did with the ingredients they had, the modofications to the vaccines over the years and the continued epidemic of Autism clearly proves the point
that vaccinations and Autism are not related.

Misinformation is dangerous, disinfirmation is dangerous, half truths are dangerous.

I applaud everyone's efforts to eat healthy, be healthy and help their friends do so.  Be careful what you say to whom as the opportunty for misinformation to be misinterpreted and applied inappropriately is great and so is the potential harm.

Priyanka, some of these seem very practical, but others are contrary to what has been recommended by health professionals, and others seem... well, silly.

For example, intestines can't be "twisted" by loosening one's belt. Your intestines don't move around all over the place. Plus, it takes HOURS before the food is digested enough to move out of the stomach into the intestines. That particular suggestion defies practicality and logic.

Don't walk after a meal? That suggestion is incompatible with science. 100 steps wouldn't make a difference either way, but many health professionals do recommend walking - whenever - as a good practice.

I don't really understand where these suggestions came from, but I certainly don't think they are factual.

How redicilous these statements are. All you have to do is to eat a
proper diet, excercise, and think positive.and you will live a long and happy
life. God bless you.

And I am just saying that there's absolutely no scientific basis for NOT doing them immediately, within an hour, or ever. I could tell everyone that you shouldn't pet a turtle immediately after eating, but that doesn't make it true!

A moderate amount of light physical activity (such as walking) immediately after eating is often recommended as an aid to digestion and metabolism.

I'm not an expert in the field but I nursed all three of my girls for
over a year, and all three would tend to do the same, fall asleep or just be
done on the one side. There are years in between them so my body pretty much
forgot what all about the previous times and had completely dried up in
between each of them.

I didn't have any problems with my milk not continuing. It sounds like you
are doing a perfect job. I would keep up with what you are doing, if you
tend to start getting engorged on the side, that hasnt been nursed on, or if
it seems like you slow down on production, you can always pump -n- dump or
save it, just in case there is unexpected emergency--u can store milk for up
to 6 months, if I remember right. There is info about storaging breast milk
in breastfeeding guides. Pumping will as well remind your body that you are
breasfeeding and contiue to produce.

If you decide to pump too, keep in mind relaxing and thinking of your sweet
baby will help with let down. I wasn't able to pump at all with my first
two, I never could get the let down started myself or I just didn't have the
right pump. But with my third I was able to pump and it was very releaving
to me and others in the family because they were finally able to help with
the feedings by bottle. My first two never would take a bottle either, so
the pumping and being able to offer a botlle once my milk was establish and
baby wouldn't get confused was wonderful.

I hope you find this a little helpful. Congratulations on your new baby and
enjoy every wonderful moment you can because before you know a month and an
other, then quickly a year, and this wonderful experience will have passed.

Blessings to you and baby and your continued health and happiness !!!

Medicinal value of onions

@ TM

I do not know the science behind or how it works. But through practical knowledge I know onion..esp shallot has the ability to cure cold and cough, it is an age old method used by mothers in Kerala, southern part of India. We crush shallot and put on top of head just the middle of head and allow the juice to enter skin in that area, it is based on Ayurveda traditional treatment..if the baby cough through whole night after this treatment we used to see them sleep peacefully.

This remedy may provide relief from pain, and could lessen the symptoms of certain ailments.

However, I would advise members to avoid substituting home remedies and avoiding traditional medicine entirely - especially if the condition does not improve rapidly using the home remedy. Please note that ear infections that aren't treated with antibiotics can lead to undue pain & suffering, hearing loss, and even death. Bacterial infections can spread rapidly throughout the body.

(Please note - I grew up in a house with a father who's an immunologist, who regularly warned of the dangers of untreated or poorly-treated infection!)

If a physician determines that the ailment is caused by a virus rather than bacteria, there is often no medical treatment available apart from pain and symptom relief, since antibiotics don't work on viruses. If the doctor has no prescription for your child's illness, it would still be worth asking to make sure the home remedy won't cause any harm. For example, I would never put ANYTHING in my child's ear without checking. If the doctor thinks it's OK (even if he/she doesn't think it will work), then I'd be inclined to try.

Everyone needs to read information presented and decide for themselves, but please be comfortable with the treatment you choose, rather than relying on someone ELSE'S comfort level with that treatment!

Hello T M

Onion juice can be used beneficially in the treatment of abscess in the ear caused by middle-ear infection.
Use slightly warm juice in the ear, thrice daily. The effect can be enhanced by adding equal proportions of vinegar and rose water to the juice.

Hope it will be beneficial for you, all the very best.

Take Care
Priyanka

I forgot I was going to mention that I had a terrible time finding a pump that would work that didn't cost a fortune. The one I found that did work for me was an Evenflo-comfort select- its battery poweered and has electric power plug as well. Can be dual too. i got it at babies are us or walmart and was resonable priced, I believe it was around $30 something ??? Don't hold me on that but it wasnt anymore than $50 for sure. Good Luck and lots of blessings !!!
