Yes, I too do the same for my daughter. But before she was 1 yr old, I used to apply Eucalyptus oil instead of Vicks as it is milder for baby's skin.

PS: Recently, Im also trying applying warm mustard oil + grounded garlic (little) mixed and the oil be applied instead of vicks as they are natural ingredients.

Someone told me to try rubbing vicks vapor rub on the soles of the feet and put socks on at night.  Also rub on chest.  I have since then used this on my kids and even myself and it has helped.  You do this for a few days until the cough lessens.

Wow, so does it work on adults too?
I love all the little tricks us Moms get from different parts of the world.
Thanks!

~*~Smiles~*~ ... this is exactly what I do... Vick's Vapor Rub on bottom of feet, socks over, and on chest! I try not to use meds as much as possible because of a what a doctor told me when my now 14 year old was really little... if I kept suppressing it, it would end up worse, and land the baby in the ER... he said I could do it at night but let it run it's course during the day… something about turning into pneumonia if I didn't let him cough it up/out?

I wish I knew something. My grandson has had a cough for over a month. He is only 14 mo old tho and dr will not give any meds until he is two.  It worries me for him to cough for so long

Hi,
I am Fatiha from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I have a baby boy of 2yr8m, my joy of life.I tried all i know to reduce his cough like honey and tulsi, hot water...tea. ..also went to his doctor, who suggested "Levostar" and "Ximax" but it's not working. Can anyone have a better idea to reduce the cough?
May Allah bless all our children with love and happiness.

Thanks
Fatiha

Hello Fatiha,

i am renuka from malaysia. i saw your mail tog with some responds from some of them. it is true that Vicks had helped me for my 4 children when they were young and in fact not only do i rub it on the sole of the feet but also on the chest and the back (not on the nostrils- cos of the burning sensation)
As you rub the vicks on the chest it also helps in nose blockage and relieves the child alot.

This remedy was given by my Nepalese babysitter who helped to bring up my kids too. It has helped me personally with Tiger Balm when recently i had been away for a pilgriamage and up in the Mountains it was below 4 degrees and had this same problem, cough cold blocked nose etc and i applied the same method and that's it within two days i was back to normal.

Try it and it may help

ALL THE BEST

best regards
renuka, malaysia
