Hello,
I normally have a very great Christmas with my son. But this year it has been hard to be able to have food on our table. I took in his best friend as his Mom passed away. I am disabled from a forklift accident, and a month ago my husband walked out. I just had back surgery this past Tuesday, December the first! What a way to start December, huh? Gonna go before I write a book.....

So, if any of you pray, please keep our lil family in your prayers.

Sweet Child of God,
We share your feelings and my dear friend, i remember many a time when things went wrong in life, i was always reminded , "when one door closes, God opens another one and believe it, whatever happens, miracles come your way and our sincere pure feelings and good wishes to you your son and the little angel you have taken under your care. Such a courageous soul you are and definitely God has heard your sorrow and some solutions will come your way and Merry X'mas to you dear angel and May God truly help you to find solutions to this time of need1

warmest regards

I have a new favorite Christmas song. I actually just heard it tonight. It's called "Camouflage & Christmas Lights" By Rodney Carrington. It's a song for all of our troops! As an Army wife I have to say I really love it!!!
I also love the song, "Christmas Shoes"

Non-religious is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" it sets the tone...one time around Christmas I was stuck in the Port Authority Terminal in NYC during freezing rain, the song came on, and I forgot where I was: in my mind there was a roaring fire, friends wishing friends the best, etc...religious, yes, Adeste Fideles, Hark the Herald Angels sing, but the tears & goosebumps for me is "Joy to the World"

*You are a wonderful person to take in your son's friend. You have a great
heart! Your husband doesn't "deserve" you...think of it that way.
Hopefully the surgery will improve your back, although it will take a
while. Your son's friend should be eligible for a monthly social security
check based on his parent who passed away.*
*As for the food and "Christmas spirit", I would suggest contacting your
church or a local church and having the pastor come to your house. There is
no way he/she could listen to your story and not provide some assistance.
Most churches has a separate money account to assist people the pastor
feels has the need. You have proven what a good person you are, so you
should be rewarded...*

*Get a few stuffed Christmas items, (Santa, snowman, etc.) Have everyone sit
in a big circle. Play a game similar to Musical Chairs, only pass the
stuffed toys around. Play fast Christmas music, (Jingle Bells, Rock around
the Christmas Tree, etc.) When the music stops, that person is "out".*
*You can also do a Christmas Bingo where you can specialize paper Bingo
cards on line. You need 60 different pictures, and the pictures are called
instead of numbers. When a person has a "Bingo", they have to stand up and
yell Merry Christmas. These games are good for all ages.*

My husband likes the triditional fruit cake.  I had a neighbor several years ago give me a recipe for a fruit cake thats really good, it's alon the same line as Friendship recipes that take a month to make.  I'll send it, I usually start it around the first week of November because my husband takes it to work for their Christmas party about the 2nd or 3rd week of December.

                                 Friendship Cake
1 gallon container
fruit starter:DO NOT REFRIGERATE
1 1/2 c sugar        1 c sliced peaches, drained
8 oz.can chunked pineapple, w/juice cut into smaller pieces
3 maraschino cherries
1 1/2 pkgs. dry yeast
Mix in gallon container, leave lid loose.  Stir 3-4 times the first day, then once a day for the next 14 days. Strain the fruit out of the juice and discard the fruit, keeping the juice.  There should be enought juice to start two fruit mixes-each requires 1 1/2 c of juice.
Using the starter you just made,do the following:
Day 1 add a 29 oz can peaches & juice, coarsley chopped, stir well dailey.
Day 10: add 1-20oz can of crushed pineapple
2 1/2 c sugar, let stand 10 more days, stirring dailey
Day 20: Add 1 10 oz. jar of marchino cherries, cut in half 29 oz can of fruit cocktail and 2 1/2 cups sugar stand another 10 days.
Day 30:Drain the fruit and give 5 friends 1 1/2 cups of the juice along with recipe, saving 1 1/2 c starter for yourself. Drained fruit is suppose to make 4 cakes, Make all at once or freeze to use later. Starter must be started in 3 days.
To make the fruit cake:  1 yellow cake mix 1 box instant pineapple pudding mix(I've never found this, I usually just use vanilla ) 4 eggs, 2/3 c canola oil, 1 c nuts and 1 1/2 c of the fruit .Mix cake mix, pudding, eggs and oil for 2 minutes.  Add fruit and nuts.  Bake in a bundt pan 350 degrees for 50 minutes.  Can be baked in a 9x13 inch pa for 35-40 minutes.

This is a very difficult time for a lot of people and just remember the only thing your child wants is you. To make the season fun for your little one, do some craft project and do some handmade gifts. I will pray for you and that your depression will be resovled. I don't know what your faith
is, but remember Jesus loves you and keep your head up. Tameka

Feeling ya, Husband died end of August I have a 5 year old and 7 year old both girls who will not see his face this christmas morning. My husband was the only family I had here (british) my kids have only me to buy presents for them. Thank god I have a job $12 hr, lol Don't let  the depression catch hold, get busy!   check out thrift stores, food banks, sales, community aid, Its surprising how much help is out there, kids don't care if the toys are brand new!  toys into the house are new toys for them. We used to take the kids to the dollar store each year and give them $5 to buy presents for their siblings and us, they love it and  even  though it will hurt so bad I will keep that tradition going. Head up, fight back!

How about BINGO or BUNCO.  Any type of poker game where you can set up tables and have people rotate. The winners stay and the losers move.  I am not sure if you have heard of Euchre but that is a great game to play with a lot of people and rotating from table to table.

Have a wonderful time!!
