I have a son on the spectrum with severe sensory issues. We struggle GREATLY with the oils and him. It has taken me 2 years to semi-earn his trust. Even now, I have to promise to only put it on his feet or in the middle of his back. If I get too close to his neck-he freaks. Some he won't even let me get close to him with. When I am able, I do Vetiver, Balance and Frankincense on his spine. Tonight, for the first time, I tried Past Tense. He really liked that and asked me to do more-which has never happened. He has never "liked" an oil, but will only tolerate them. Sometimes with him, I just follow my instinct for that night. It's tough, but I do think they help. I have also started having some pretty good results through dietary changes. We have removed sugar/dairy/casein/gluten and I can see a difference.

I don't have any personal experience with autism - but I have heard that the
same ones can be very helpful. I also know that you want to have them
'approve' of a smell before you use it because those with autism can be very
sensitive to smells. Hopefully someone with more personal experience will
share.
