Re: [Everything doTERRA] constant cough ~ nothings working!

Hey Kendra.

To start, never use sea weed oil with melaleuca oil, the results will be stinky and sticky.

Coughs are a very hard thing to get rid of...  with ANYTHING.

We have been most successful using the following things (keep i mind there are different kinds of coughs)

The problem is when the cough gets to the lungs...  It is very hard to get oils to the lungs, but use logic... whats the obvious way?  Through the air you intake!!

Use one of the following combinations...

Tee Shirt Tent:

Dry hacking cough:
2 drops eucalyptus
2 drops rosemary
2 drops lemon

Wet throat cough:
2 drops Peppermint
2 drops Rosemary
2 drops Lime

Deep painful chest cough:
2 drops Rosemary
2 drops eucalyptus
2 drops Frankincense

Also consider Melaleuca, Myrrh, breathe, clove or thyme

Application:
Layer the oils on your chest and lightly rub in.
Let the oils sit on your skin, while you cup and inhale from your hands deeply for several minutes.  Then pull the neck of your shirt up over your mouth and nose and breathe in deeply for several minutes till the aroma begins to dissipate.  If you feel like your not getting enough oxygen, take a break with a couple breaths, then resume.

As you do this, you will feel the oils begin to penetrate deeper and deeper into the lungs, and will even feel a cooling sensation in your lungs. This is what you want. You need to set aside several minutes every time you do this.

You can also make an inhaler and take it on the go, using it often.

You might have to keep doing this several times per day and if you have cough attacks at night.  But even if your cough gets better, keep it up for a while.

Combine this tee-shirt tent technique with EO Tea.

EO Tea
1-2 tbls honey
1 tlbs virgin coconut oil carrier (optional)
1-2 drops essential oils

Honey acts as a dispersing agent, helping to keep the essential oils and water from separating.  You can also use extra virgin coconut oil or other healthy oil (1 tblsp).

Boil your water first then add the honey and oils to the water and blend in a blender at high speed for 60 seconds.

Always keep your head over the steaming cup, enjoying the therapeutic steam aroma and great taste.  You can use lemon, lime or grapefruit to counter some more caustic oils like cinnamon, peppermint or Eucalyptus.  You usually need only 1 drop of EO for a tea.

EO's used in a tea are absorbed quickly into organs and inner tissues of the body as it travels down the esophagus.

Honey itself is also efficacious for coughs

It is excellent for coughs because it absorbs quickly going down your esophagus, near areas that might have virus (particularly lungs)

Synergize your efforts with prayer, faith in the oils and "the greater good" ;-)

If you have thoughts about other oils that might help... by all means, use your intuition.

PS. Worst case senario, use the "butt bomb"  we use it to motivate our kids to be consistent with the Tee shirt tent and tea.  Let me know if desperation justifies that.

Hey Guys,

I have a problem that we can't seem to get rid of.  I'm not sure what
the problem is, but if anybody can help me I sure would appreciate it!

I have a 16 year old that can't get rid of a "hacking" and I mean
"hacking" cough.

I have used the oils on him and I swear by these oils.  But......they
are not cutting it!

Any suggestions on what to use?   I give him the oregano and every
other oil you can think of.  I do Aromatouch on him.  Seriously, you
name it and I've probably done it.

Somebody out there throw me a rope.......

Maybe I shouldn't admit this, and not because I used an antibiotic
with him, but that we didn't have enough for a full course.  (I know!
don't anybody yell at me!)  I used what I had at the time to get some
kind of relief for him.  The antibiotic did start to help him.

Now why is that?!  If Oregano kills more than an antibiotic, why
wouldn't it have killed what my son has.  Why was the antibiotic
working better?   I'm not understanding it.

I am not attacking the power of the oils, I'm trying to understand
what is going on here.

Thanks so much,
Kendra
