[Everything doTERRA] Re: CATS

I too have a 19 yo cat with "thyroid problems". Be careful with your
choice of oils and do not assume a human thyroid problem is the same
as a cat problem. Most humans are treated for HYPOTHYROIDISM and most
cats are treated for HYPERTHYROIDISM. I have been using myrrh on my
cats ears and foot pads, 1-2 drops greatly diluted with FCA. I
started using myrrh after a lot of research. One of its uses is for
hyperthyroidism. I began using it for its antibacterial qualities as
my kitty had a intestinal bacterial infection. It is one of the few
safe for kitties An oil that increases thyroid activity on a
hyperthyroid cat could spell disaster. Peppermint and lemongrass are
two that I would NOT use on my cat. With hyperthyroidism their hearts
are very stressed and these cats don't need anymore stimulation.
There is an animal aromatherapist on this google group who uses
doTerra oils. I think she would be a great resource. Search for her
and then maybe email her directly since she has not responded to this
thread and I usually do see her activity whenever there is an animal
question. Good luck with your kitty. FYI there is a veterinarian in
Vegas that uses oils in her practice and you can schedule phone
consults with her. I had one scheduled but had to cancel. Talking
with her receptionist I asked what brand of oils she is recommending
and he said YL. I think a consult with her would be very informative
and perhaps a chance to share the oils with this veterinarian.
