Re: [Everything doTERRA] Narcolepsy & Hypersomnia

People with Narcolepsy fall asleep at odd times, usually during daytime hours. A person with N falls into REM within 10 minutes after falling asleep, whereas most people do not fall into REM until at least 30 minutes afters falling asleep. To make matters worse, adding Hypersomnia to mix makes matters much more difficult for him to deal with.

Those who suffer from hypersomnia have recurring episodes of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) which is different from feeling tired due to lack of or interrupted sleep at night. They are compelled to nap repeatedly during the day, often at inappropriate times such as at work, during a meal, or in conversation. These daytime naps usually provide no relief from symptoms.

Patients with hypersomnia also often experience prolonged sleep at night and have difficulty waking from long sleep, feeling disoriented upon doing so. Some people can sleep up to eighteen hours a day and still be exhausted.

I would try the following:

  • Balance and Elevation during the day, on the feet or wrist and the back of the neck. Use as often as needed.
  • Serenity at night before going to bed, add balance at night also. Try the Serenity alone first and the balance if needed.
