I felt the prompting to share an oils success story.
9 days ago my 2 year old began the day with a fever that raged for 4
days. On day 3 of the fever, her mouth erupted into sores. One
canker sore is a pain, can you imagine 20+ ?? She couldn't eat
anything. The only relief she had was nursing, I was so thankful we
had that to help her. (2 weeks ago I had planned to wean her from
nursing around her 2nd birthday and for some reason I felt like I
should continue.)
As the fever continued, I used a lot of peppermint for it -- amazing
at cooling her enough so she could be comfortable enough to sleep in
my arms. I was applying Melaleuca and Frankincense to her feet, well
and any other oil that intuitively felt right at the moment I was
doing it.
I did some research online, talked to other mothers, and read some
more and thought maybe it was Hand,Foot, and Mouth. But her gums were
very swollen and dark red and her breath smelled bad (so I was
thinking bacterial?)
Of course my mind is racing ... is this a more serious thing?? I
found another virus description that matched her symptoms and found
other mothers and the doctor saying antibiotics might help but really
you just have to wait it out. She was too young for any sort of
rinse. I did not want to go the antibiotic route so I watched the
progression of the sores very very closely. I'm a praying person, so
I prayed specifically for the answer to help these spots, and for
relief for her tender mouth.
I had gotten some of those amber colored glass spray bottles recently,
I put 4 drops of Melaleuca, 4 of Frankincense, 2 drops of lemon and
filled it with water. She couldn't stand anyone touching her mouth
and would never open when I asked, so I just sprayed my breast before
she nursed and she got a full dose on her sores from that. She only
wanted to nurse (for HOURS day and night, had to pray to get through
that too!) -- and so she had many doses of the spray. A few times I
got her to let me spray it directly into her mouth.
All the reading I'd done said the agony of the illness lasts minimum
10 days but more commonly into 3 weeks!
2 days of spraying and she finally slept last night. Her pain is
reduced, the sores are shrinking, she has been smiling and playing
today.
I expect her to be back to normal in a day or so. I have been a
believer of the power of doTerra oils from the moment I sampled them
last year, but this has been thus far the most dramatic healing we've
experienced in our family. My baby was so so sick, and I am so so
grateful for these beautiful wonderful oils!
