[Everything doTERRA] Re: Calming a big Dog

I have a large dog with the same problem. The only thing that work is
having my husband hold her up in the air and I trim as quickly as
possible. It's very hard on his back! Muzzling and forcing my dog to
have her nails trimmed at the clinic only made her more fearful.
If the dog is having serious issues with nail trims, you might
consider a sedative from the vet. It's not the same as
anesthesia....something in pill form that will be safe and relax him a
bit.
As far as oils, I would go for Serenity, Balance, Lavender or
Frankincence. Frankincense calms my dog so much, she usually falls
asleep after I put it on. I also think using a dremel is a good way
to go if the dog isn't afraid of the noise...the most important thing
is: Do not quick hiim (cut the nail too short, so it bleeds)!! If you
do it gently he will soon learn it doesn't hurt.
Best of luck!
