Monica,
As usual you have incredible insight and your comments are timely. I did forget one item, the one thing I do at every event is spray OnGuard on everyones hands at the beginning of the meeting. And then proceed to teach the powerful lesson of essential oils.
Thanks Monica,
Pat

I do NOT touch the white cap, nor do I allow others to touch it.Pat says the essential oils disinfect themselves, and while I agree with her, here is my primary reason for not touching the top of the open bottle:I am not someone who washes my hands every 5 seconds. I know where my hands have been, but I can't say that about anyone else's hands that may have touched a surface that my hands come into contact with. While I *might* be OK with using the oils on myself if I were the only one touching the top of the bottle, I use the essential oils on my children and on patients and clients (I'm a holistic health practitioner, working both in private practice and at a holistic clinic as a contractor). It is important to me, that the essential oils be 100% able to do their work for each and every fresh job I give them (myself, my family, my clients, etc.), and while the oils probably DO disinfect themselves, I simply choose to assure myself that I'm not introducing something into that bottle that's unwanted, period. Plus, on an 'energetic' level, I feel that my bottles of essential oils may appreciate how precious I believe they are, and how much care I take of them. Yes, I use them daily. They are certainly NOT on the shelf just looking pretty. But I use them in a way that is - in my opinion - a careful, respectful... sacred, if you will, manner.I hope that helps clarify why I do it the way I do. This is NOT meant to imply that anyone else who DOES touch the top of the bottle does it wrong. This is simply my way, and my why.So, when using the essential oils on myself, I *most often* drop the oil into my left palm (energetically, the left side of the body is considered to be the 'receptive' side), and then do the clockwise 3x 'charging' technique. Don't know if scientifically proved or not, but energetically, it feels 'right' to me to do this; my body seems to understand that it is about to be blessed. Then I put the essential oil wherever I feel it's needed (or, if I think it's needed in a spot that I can't conveniently reach right that second, I always use the base of my neck and forehead as an alternate solution. When using essential oils with my family, the same procedure as above, except they do it to themselves, usually. Sometimes, we just drop the essential oil onto our fingertips and apply to the location. If you *REALLY* want to try something... Get 2 q-tips. On both ends of both q-tips, put a drop or so of Peppermint essential oil. Using one end of one q-tip, gently swab the inside of one nostril, then using other end, do the other nostril. Discard that q-tip. With the other q-tip, swab the inside of the ear (not deeply, mind you... no busting eardrums... just inside that edge)..... Discard that q-tip. Take a DEEP breath. WAHOOO! Head is clear and you are ZOOOMing with energy! (the nose bit is a tip I learned from my friend Heidi; I made up the ear part when I was in D.C. a few years back and was ROASTING from the heat, which had caused my head to clog up horribly... this is my FAVORITE thing to do with Peppermint essential oil - ESPECIALLY great with doTERRA's!!)When using the oils with clients, I teach them the drop in the hand, 3x bit... let them do it themselves, or drop the oils on their back, etc...My ultimate opinion on all of the above: TRUST YOUR GUT! :-) Do oils YOUR way! That's the beauty of them; they WORK, no matter how hard we try to goof them up. <grin>MonicaMonica

Subject: [Everything doTERRA] To touch or not to touch, that is the question.....
Hey all!
I have had mixed reviews, SO I thought I would see what you all say...
How do you obtain your oils from the bottles...
Do you touch the white cap OR not?
Do you place them in your palm, on your fingertips, directly to where
you are applying the oil...?
Do you have any secrets or tips that make it more beneficial if done a
certain way?
I have had some say NEVER touch the white cap because the oils from
your skin will get into the essential oil and break it down. Then
someone else said that they could be touched since the oils are so
antibacterial. but that would not solve the problem with the oily
skin....hmmmm...?
I have also been told a trick is to place a few drops in your palm and
then use the middle and ring finger on you other hand to rub the oil
clockwise three times. Something about this "charging" it, giving it
energy?
Any words from the wise?
