[Everything doTERRA] Sciatica referred to foot pain

My grandmas friend called me and is very interested in trying some oils for her son...he is also very interested in doterra.
He is 40. Began building serious blood clots since age 16. In July 2010 he had clots so bad in legs and groin some broke off and went to heart and both lungs. They put a venacava filter in his artery in lower part of back. Then went back in 2 days later to clean out blood clots, during the second surgery a nerve was damaged. After waking from surgery he was inconsolable for more than 8 hours no amount of pain medications helped him. He now has no feeling from his ankle down, he can't feel walking or touching, needs a brace to walk most of the time. But he does feel burning pain all the time. They called it drop foot. I think it's also neuropathy.  He is taking intense amounts of pain medications (the big guns, lyrica, oycodon, Oxycontin, and others he's tried) none of these have worked. The dr has thrown his hands up and told him to try marijuana.

My question...
They would like to try something to help with the oils. We have talked about LVP. They would also like some oils.
They don't want to start out buying every oil on the list, so would like to buy a premixed bottle.
If I mix him up a bottle, say 4oz of coconut oil and have him rub that on his foot and back...he needs to rub on both right? Because if I'm understanding right...the foot pain is referred pain from the sciatica nerve damage? So to heal one are they really need to work on both??
but if I make up a 4oz bottle is that too much coconut oil?
I was planning on adding oils I've looked up for nerve damage and pain. Definitely helichrysum and many more oils. But I'm not sure what the ratio should be? Or if I should go with a smaller amount of coconut oil?

Thanks for any suggestions on this,
Amy Kilber
