symptoms or "prodrome" some people with migraines experience - often
an actual aura (a halo of light and/or color at the edges of vision or
around objects) and/or other visual disturbances, but can include
sound, taste, general malaise, mood swings and even food
cravings...
Ocular migraines happen along the ocular nerve from eye to brain in
both eyes -- and can also include pre-migraine auras... although
usually since they are ocular in nature, rather than the insane pain
of migraines in other parts of the brain, ocular migraines are nearly
pain free. Instead they cause vision disturbances, like double
vision, blurred vision, blank spots in the vision, etc.
A third type of migraine occurs in the retina itself, on one side only
and can cause permanent damage to the vision.
