Re: [Everything doTERRA] Hypothyroidism

I didn't exactly wean myself off, I just stopped taking them due to issues between me and my doctor at the time. I found an article written by someone who managed theirs naturally, and started taking the herbs she recommended and added salmon to my diet, and spinach salads, since both contain nutrients that support the thyroid. I'm getting ready to switch off of the Megafoods supplement and try a homeopathic remedy, but the Megafoods is a very good one whose sources are all natural from whole foods.

I was taking 75 mcg of levothyroxine, and now I take 2 Megafoods Thyroid Strength pills in the morning, a kelp capsule in the afternoon, eat salmon salad sandwiches for lunch and have a spinach salad daily. I've also added Slim and Sassy to my water, and drink 4 big water bottles (20 oz) with 3 drops in it daily. This final addition eliminated the remnants of sluggishness and started a gentle weight loss again.

Another thing to look at is a possible candida albicans overgrowth since hypothyroid is one of the symptoms of it, and it's also part of silent celiac, especially if you have any other symptoms like anemia, osteoporosis, a history of miscarriage, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus.

One thing I found interesting about the thyroid is that there are 3 hormones that regulate it, T3, T4, and T4 uptake, but Synthroid and levothyroxine only take care of the T4 and ignore the rest. Managing your thyroid naturally actually stimulates all three and has better results. Most doctors will tell you it's impossible to regulate naturally, but there are many sites that can help.

Good luck! Weaning is better, btw, I'm not in any way suggesting you go cold turkey. I monitor my symptoms and adjust if I feel that something isn't working because the body does change, and I'm at that time when my hormones are changing radically.

I know this isn't completely an oil answer, but I believe the oils are part of a way of life that includes a healthy diet and other natural supplements and remedies, and work as part of a complete protocol for chronic health issues.

I'm wondering if anyone has had success actually weaning off of
synthetic thyroid medication and what the protocol was that supported
this?  How long did it take? (It would be helpful to know what dosage
you were taking to assess similarity to my situation - I take 112 mcg.

Thanks for any suggestions!
