Poor Madchen! I would suggest adding VCO to her food, as it contains
caprylic acid, which kills candida. You gave a lot of detail, so sorry
for asking a few more questions... is she a breed that grows hair in
the ear canals? If so, do you pluck the hair regularly? Vets
discourage plucking, but owners and breeders of hairy-eared dogs
disagree. The hair traps moisture and bacteria, leading to ear
infections. The key is to keep the ear canal very, very clean--
swabbing daily if you can discipline yourself.

I agree with Karen that Madchen may have an allergy to something in
her food. Even though you are feeding a good quality product, one of
the proteins may disagree with her system. You may want to try an
elimination diet for her, trying one source of protein at a time (e.g.
chicken, white fish, duck, etc.) to see if that makes a difference. By
all means, contact the expert mentioned and get her advice. Sounds
like she is well qualified!

As for oils, remember never to put oils inside the ear canal, no
matter how diluted. As for a human ear infection, I would rub the
desired oil around the perimeter of the "bulb" of the ear. Basil is an
oil that many prefer for ear infections in humans. On Guard is a blend
that is highly antimicrobial as well. I have heard people recommend
Helichrysum as well, although it is very expensive. Everyone will have
their favourite!  As Pat says, be agressive and be consistent. Apply
every hour or two for a few days. Clean the inside of the ear gently
with a drying cleanser and a cotton pad.

Now, here is a link to a recipe for an ear wash that many
knowledgeable dog owners I know SWEAR by for ear infections. I do not
have personal experience with it, but I post it here for your
information. http://www.itsfortheanimals.com/Adobe/Blue%20Power%20Ear%20Treatment.pdf

Good luck!
