My daughter is allergic to chemical suncreens. We discovered she's OK with natural ones such as Zinc Oxide or Titanium oxide. They are usually pastey/chalky not what a teen likes all over them so mixing them FCO and the oils most people are mentioning for sunscreen makes application easier and adds a bit more SPF than the oils on their own.

I am recently new to essential oils. I am currently trying different ones to help with different issues. My 2 year old grand daughter is allergic to sunscreens so I was considering trying the recipe with the combination of helichrysum and FCO. Or one that also included lavender. My question was about the coconut oil. People use tanning oils that have coconut oil in them to tan. How is this keeping a person from burning? Or is this a completely different type of oil. I didn't want to try it til I had talked to others that have tried EO. Thanks
