Re: FW: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Serious Adverse Reaction to Lavender

Agreed, Anne.

So remember that in our culture we use the word "allergy" or "allergic reaction"  to mean anything from a red mark to hives to full blown anaphylactic response.  In truth the word "allergy" in the medical field, means ONLY anaphylactic response -- swelling of throat and tongue to the point of not breathing requiring epinephrine to reverse the reaction.

All other reactions are considered just that "topical" reactions.  Some people with asthma may have an asthmatic response to a smell or odor or inhalation of a substance, still not an allergy.

Hives are a type of topical skin reaction called urticaria -- often a warning that a more serious reaction could occur, but not a true allergic reaction in and of itself.

itching, rashes, etc etc  eczema even are topical reactions and can occur for anyone due to any substance, protein or not....

Now all this to say while the oils are "pure" one can still have a serious reaction to them -- think of the person who has an anaphylactic response to something cooked in peanut oil bc they are allergic to peanuts... remember: HEMLOCK is "all natural" and "pure" and I wouldn't want to ingest that either...

Nothing is safe for everyone -- there are people who have life threatening reactions to water and to sunlight.... "all natural" and "pure" does not mean safe for all humans in all situations.  It means safer than most, but until you know, use with caution; especially if you have other health concerns that compromise your system....

anne

Ok, I'm wondering about this comment-- " . . . the allergies that are present in the plant . . . "  There are ALLERGIES in plants?  Pardon me for being so slow to get some things ....

In watching a webinar I learned that the allergies that are present in the plant are removed at the time of  distillation. Because of this reason there nothing to be allergic to in the oil. You will then see a reaction from sensitivity on the skin or an immediate detox.

I would start with the GX and PB protocol, using the product as directed and reducing the GX if you can't take the full three a day. I would repeat this three times with a 10 day wait between each session.
I would also suggest starting the LLV to get the body nutritionally balanced.

I'd be interested on how you proceeded with detox and a rough timeline.  I agree this was a serious reaction and knowing some ideas of how to suggest proceeding is helpful knowledge.  Did you use the m/e book or everythingessential as your guide?  Another resource.
