The suggestion to spray insects with dishsoap and water has worked for me for years to take care of the aphids on my roses. Every year they are there within a few days of my non-watchful eye and are covered! One good dousing usually does it for the summer and one for the fall. The roses don't mind unless the soap mixture is too strong, then they can burn in the hot summer sun. Good luck!
