My dog was bit in the face and is now in perfect health. We gave him high doses of Vit C and put basil and oregano essential oils around the area he was bitten. We also gave some basil essential oil to a neighbor whose horse was also bit by a rattler in the face and she seemed to come around better after basil essential was applied around the wound. As an herbalist I would also recommend echinacea. I hope this helps.
