I have asked the question to doTERRA, and I was told that they refuse
to tell us to protect the identity of the laboratories - for business/
commercial reasons. I have said before, that in my opinion this is
quite poor. Especially so that we brag that our oils are
"independently tested". That bragging line means nothing without a
credible name to back us up. How do I know that the "independent"
tests are conducted by a 'Diamond IPC'. Heck, that's ridiculous.. but
I say that as an example, and the point is, we do not know.
It is okay for some people who know the guys at the top. Who live
near them. Who visit the laboratories. etc etc. But for the rest of
the world... that isn't enough. The world is full of scams, and it's
no longer enough to say "I know someone, who knows someone, who can
vouch that the tests are independent, and the owners are really great,
honest people".
As doTERRA are not prepared to give any credibility to their
"independent" testing claim, then I don't see how we can even market
our oils as being independently tested.
It was mentioned above about the "CPTG" too. That is another major
misunderstanding, and I'm glad it was mentioned here that it is
nothing more than a 'label' - it is not a credible, authoritive
standard.
I'm not being critical, I'm being honest. These issues need to be
clear to avoid misselling. I wouldn't be surprised if one day, an IPC
falls into real trouble.
