Hi Emily,
I agree with your assessment that your friend needs to detox. I'm fairly new to doTERRA but a friend of mine has done some pretty extensive research about Candida. It sounds like the "allergies" she is experiencing are actually her body's reaction to a Candida outbreak.
"Candida Albicans is a natural strain of fungus that lives in our bowels, but when allowed to grow unchecked can cause havoc on our immune system and show up as a myriad of symptoms such as allergies, rashes, pain, stomach upset, inflammation, reactions to smells, headaches, etc. We see it in the form of fungus infection, epidermal irritations, and thrush; there are oral forms, vaginal forms, blood forms, and intestinal forms."
There is a recommended protocol to follow for the detox:
Hope this helps

Hey,--
I know when people break out when using essential oils, they need to detox. She and her husband are absolutely convinced she has an allergy to peppermint--however she has broken out with all the oils she has tried. I explained how she can't possibly have an allergy bc the allergies are to proteins etc etc. Anyway, she has severe post partum depression. Her baby is about 8 weeks old and she is not breastfeeding. However, she has just started a new antidepressant (less than a week). It takes a while for antidepressants to come to a baseline in your system.
Here are my concerns:
--Her mood is extremely unstable. I have mood disorders myself and when I did the GX and also with Zendocrine, my biggest "side effect" of the cleanse was that my mood totally went down the toilet. I was angry, depressed and easily upset. She cannot afford any more of those feelings than she already has.
--Because her reaction to every oil we've tried was such a severe break out, I think she probably needs to cleanse slowly at fractions of the dose most people use.
--Her diet is not what I would consider a "clean diet" but she attempts to eat "healthy" by her standards. With her mood what it is right now, honestly, whatever she feels like eating seems completely justified to me.
Ok... so... this is what I THINK she should do. Please give me your feedback.
1. I think she should wait a few more weeks before doing anything to see how this antidepressant is helping or hurting. If she starts something new right away, she won't be able to tell what is making her better or worse. If they need to change her meds again, I think she should wait even longer.
2. After that, I think she should start with 1-3 drops of lemon oil in her water once a day for about a month. (I'm thinking very slow is prudent here...)
3. Then start LLV as slow as necessary for a month.
4. Then do GX Assist followed by PB Assist.
5. Eventually do the Zendocrine.
What do you think? She is so discouraged. She wants to try these things immediately, but I really don't think she should attempt another change right now, do you? In the mean time, she is starting to use the oils aromatically. I personally think she needs to get on LLV ASAP, but I'm worried about a violent reaction considering the others she has had. What are your opinions?
Thanks so much
Emily
