I use rubbing alcohol on it occasionally. Just make sure it is dry before using again.

You can get a replacement brush at doTerra, at least they used to have them. I have never really cleaned mine and have no problems but with really hard water you would need a brush to break away the water deposits. I would think a small stiff paint brush might work.
