I would say don't give up just keep using S&S you my not notice for a whie but the weight will come off. When I first used S&S there was nothing I don't have the shakes so I don't know about that, I went off it for a while then I noticed I craving food all the time, so I went back on the S&S and don't crave food or feel like I'm starving 1 hour after I eat so just give it some time and you will see the difference.
