I would use the Frankincense and Helichrysum both topically and internally while he is recovering.

Hello group members,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any testimonials on oils used after an ACL surgery.  My friend's son just had surgery and is now recovering. He is somewhat depressed because he has to stay put and he is in a lot of pain due to inflammation.  Besides Frankincense, please provide your recommendations,etc.so I can pass it on to him and he can live more comfrotrably. I'm also recommending Frankinsense to improve his swelling, Thanks in advance.
