I suffered with severe cramps for nearly 20 years. In the last several
years, I would take 1000 - 1500 mg of Naproxen per day to be
functional during menstruation.
Just 4 months into using the oils, I have not taken any pain relievers
for 3 months!
What worked for my pain was to apply lavender and then put peppermint
on top. I found the peppermint on its own to be ineffective. So, there
was definitely something to using it in tandem with the lavender.
Has endometriosis been ruled out for your wife? This was the source of
my pain and in my second month of using oils started treating the
endometriosis with clary sage and geranium. After a couple of months
of treating the endo, I stopped having pain.
Endometriosis is a somewhat mysterious thing and there does not seem
to be anything that is a "risk factor" such as for heart disease or
diabetes. It effects a variety of women. Many women go undignosed
since the only definitive way to diagnose is though a laparoscopy.
I know how difficult severe cramps are and hope you are able to find
just the right combination of things to help your wife feel better.
