Do you have about two weeks? :-) I'll try to condense. I changed the subject line so as not to hijack this thread.
For 42 years, I could get no doctor to Rx desiccated (natural) thyroid. I could have avoided many issues like high cholesterol, high BP, depression, weight gain, GERD, PCOS, hypolgycemia for 40 years->diabetes...
I did not gain weight until I had been on synthetic T4 for eight years, so I must have been converting the T4 into Free T3 for at least that long. It has been a struggle to get the weight off since then. Now, I'm sedentary with Post Polio Syndrome (to exercise means losing more muscle function, a paradox) and it's really difficult, but I am slowly losing. :-)
In 2007 I found http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/, a doctor who prescribed desiccated thyroid, a great NTH online support group,
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormones/, and my life has improved 80-90%. BP and cholesterol are good, and depression is a thing of the past. I still have GERD, but I can see me finally getting off of Nexium with DoTERRA. It has been quite a process; my adrenals were totally shot and I've spent almost three years on HC (hydrocortisone). I am weaning it now and I'm down to 10mg from 30mg.
I have other health challenges, but I won't bore you with all of that, only to say that one was caused by the thyroid surgery. I always tell people that I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in. :-) The doctor who did my thyroid surgery used to tell me that I was the "healthiest looking sick person he had ever seen". I attribute that to my relationship with the Lord.
