Subject: Re: [Everything doTERRA] PTSD questions...

PTSD has many forms; I have one of them. I'm not violent, but I have
strong emotional reactions to certain situations. I am also sensitive
to unexpected touch, and I'm hyper-aware. For me, it's a constant
mental and emotional toll, although I have learned how to deal with it
in many ways. Controlling my environment is a priority.
My experience won't be just like others, but the oils and concepts I
wrote about have helped me a lot. It is important to anyone with
emotional issues to feel that the person who is helping them really
cares about them. None of that false friendship stuff! Care with
applying the oils and letting them smell it first like you mentioned,
Pete, is a great idea. I know it is apparent to others that I struggle
sometimes, but it really helps if they are accepting of that, not
afraid to deal with me, and can see past my emotions to what I'm
really trying to accomplish.
Learn the Focus and Healing protocols; they have done a lot for me. I
don't have anyone to "do" the AromaTouch for me, but I put the oils on
my feet in order, and that is helpful. When I do an AT, I always
inhale off my hand as I apply each one. Learning about essential oils
and using them on my family and friends has been a bonding experience,
as well, which has really helped me a lot. People with PTSD need
connections, although we often shoot ourselves in the foot because it
can be difficult to trust enough for that connection to develop! You
have to be patient, and like I said, really care about the person. If
you are too "empathetic" your own emotions can get in the way, or you
can pick up theirs and confuse things. It's a balance you have to
learn with each person you work with. I was not aware that
Frankincense specifically helped with that, so that's good to know.
I appreciate the counsel and experience shared here; I am always
looking for more information and ideas to help myself and those I
love.
