I completely agree- going off of insulin is a scary situation. With Type 1 diabetics, there is often a honeymoon phase - as your pancreas begins to shut down, it goes out in spurts. I've read and spoken to a doctor that recommend removing all wheat from her diet. That seemed to do wonders...but her nutrionalist scared me into thinking that I wasn't giving her the proper nutrients for brain development...so we started eating wheat again. When she was wheat-free, her insulin dosages were cut tremendously. She went down from 3 units of basal insulin to 1 unit per day. Her carb ratios were near 1 unit of insulin for each 50g of carbs. Now that she's back on wheat, we're close to 3 units of basal insulin per day again...and her carb ratios are around 1/20.
-- I'm looking for an oil that can help regulate the highs and lows better. We're still seeing some highs and some lows. We've reduced her morning insulin, like I said, because of Coriander Oil. Now I'm trying to use that same method in reducing her daytime oils.
Is there a way to apply oils (with success results) directly over the pancreas area? Or is it recommended to only apply to the feet? Is there another oil I'm missing to help regulate blood sugar?
Thanks
Jess
