[Everything doTERRA] 9 year old son battle with eczema

My son is 9 and has been battling eczema since he was 6 months old.  For years we have treated and been able to keep it under control with ointments and creams, some containing steroids which I have always tried to monitor.  July 4th he was exposed to some type of poison ivy or sumac and his eczema has been raging ever since. Ointments and creams that worked in the past have stopped working.  Luckily about this time I attended a doTerra party and was advised by the doTerra rep to use melaluca and lavender to help his eczema.  I feel we've had good results with those two oils but another flare up occurred and sought out the advice of the same doTerra rep and she recommended extra virgin coconut oil using drop of frankincense in those areas.  It worked for that last flare up but I feel currently with our latest flare up the frank is aggravating his skin.  Is this possible??  We've also removed all glutens and dairy from his diet just this week as I keep reading how these two dietary changes can make a major difference in his results.  Any advice on anything else I could add or change would be GREATLY appreciated!  I am mama hurting for my poor little buddy and how bad his skin looks.  Willing to try anything for some relief for him!!
