Oh, I'll agree, there's a lot of factors to consider with episiotomy. If you're having a standard hospital birth on your back and no perineum support, you're putting a LOT of pressure on your bottom and inviting a bad tear to happen. If you're in a gravity friendly position (not having to push the baby up and over your tailbone) with perineum support and doTERRA oils, I bet the outcome won't be so bad. ;)

My first born I had an episiotomy (and about 4" of stitches) and healed very quickly with no pain, no nerve damage, happy as a clam. #2 was a different doc who believed in tearing. It was horrible, took forever to heal, I was miserable and it did extensive nerve damage. I might add this is an area you do not want nerve damage. So I think it may just come down to the doctor.
