I think you're referring to water on the pads that are placed in the freezer for a few hours to help with the swelling. I used that for the first day or two after birth.
What really helped was a peri bottle and Immortelle spray. When I would go to the bathroom, I would fill up the bottle with warm water, gently squirt it on myself, then use the toilet. The water kind of helped me anticipate what was coming without the sting that urine might have. Sometimes I would even go as I was squirting the peri bottle, which again helps dilute the sting.
After I was done using the toilet, I would spray a couple squirts of Immortelle - 4oz bottle with 20 drops of Immortelle and the rest filled with water. Shake before use. This mixture was my biggest relief for the raw postpartum skin. I typically used it for 2 weeks.
