One of the main reasons for the epsom salt is to put the oil into the salt so it disperses well in the water and prevents those marks where the oil is floating on top of the water.
If you are looking to detox then think about using one of the following:
lemon
cilantro
arbovitae
bergamot
There are many more, these are just suggestions.

I have finally found Epsom salt in Italy and want to take a nice bath as soon as it arrives. Are there any oils one should not bathe in? I was told by someone they put cinnamon oil in their bath water and got burn marks in different places on her body, but I just read a post where someone recommended cinnamon! I am mainly looking to detox and to help with arthritis. Thanks, Sz
