I would use directly on insision & spitz baths are done right after birth while any stitches are fresh.
I split open my chin beggening of the month. Hit my chin so hard my daughter had to help me inside- once able I asked for helichrysm & Frankinsince. I applied 2 x & bleeding was almost stopped. I continued to apply to my freshly split chin after cleaning it up & started our drive from WA to ID. It helped take down the pain & and helped my body nit the wound. I was not very diligent after it closed so I have a slight purplish line. When I was more diligent it healed strait to a fine white line.
Long short: Yes, Id use them directly on the wound and we do.
