My 7 year old son is having a hard time with allergies/sinus problems. His main problem is when he wakes up in the morning he is constantly sniffing, coughing, & gagging. Usually by 10 am he is ok and is fine the rest of the day. It makes me think it is sinus drainage that is causing the mucous in his throat. He has been on antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal steroids which do not really help. I have been trying lemon, lavender, & peppermint on the bottom of his feet morning & night but have not seen any difference. Sometimes I can get him to do a sinus rinse in the mornings and that does get some of the mucous out, but I wish I could find a way to prevent it from happening every morning. Tried using a sinus rinse at night with a drop of eucalyptus but could not tell that it helped in eliminating the coughing & gagging the next morning. About 8 months ago I covered his mattress & pillows with allergy covers & wash his bedding in hot water every week so I don't think it's dust mite related. These symptoms started about a week ago when the leaves started falling and we have had our heat on in the house a couple times. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
