Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Vegan LLV: WARNING!!!

Amber if you would like to stay on this forum I suggest you read the information that Rob sent regarding this ingredient. It will not harm!
DoTerra would never add an ingredient that would be harmful to any of us. He has said that due to people lack of understanding they are looking for another health ingredient but until they are sure it will do what the product is now doing they won't be adding it.

I have to confess that I only read the first two sentences of your email. I also appreciate your passion for your lifestyle.

I am going to pipe in here because every time the carageenan issue comes up, I get so upset and feel people are misinformed. Carageenan IS NOT a safe additive and it IS a KNOWN carcinogen!! Why doTERRA uses this product is beyond me! There are HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of scientific studies on it. What first raised my concern on it was the almond milk we were buying. It made my kids and I have severe diarrhea. We switched brands then no problems! So, I talked to my holistic health coach and she told me just how bad it really was! I have done extensive research on this product and emailed doTERRA about it several times with links and no response from them except one time. This was their response when I asked why they were using it in so many products. And for the record, carageenan is only added as a thickener, no other reason. IMO, there are SO many other thickeners out there that are safe!!
I hate discussing this subject in this group since the last two times, so many people got upset with me. But, facts are facts! I will post several links, but I urge you to do your own research as well. I would NEVER put carageenan in my or my family's body's! It is so detrimental to your health and I am saddened that so many do not know this! Carageenan is TOXIC to human cells!

Your Question: Why does the on guard toothpaste cpntain carageenan, a known carcinogen? Does doTERRA plan to change the formula and remove this anytime soon?
We appreciate your inquiry at doterraeveryday.comCarrageenan is a very safe ingredient. Long term bioassays have found that carrageenan is not carcinogenic. The only case where carrageenan caused problems was when it was injected into the blood stream of animals. No carrageenan enters the blood through the digestive tract in humans because it is not digested or absorbed. doTERRA is not concerned with the use of this ingredient and have no plans to take it our of our On Guard Toothpaste formula. These conclusions are based on strong scientific evidence. The following scientific review is the source of the above information if you'd like to read further: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12389870. I hope this information has been helpful and that you can continue to use all of our products with confidence. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

Ok, so she is saying it is not entered into the body from the toothpaste, but what about all of the other doTERRA products that have it? Omegas, on guard plus, beadles, etc. etc.?

*On another note, I LOVE doTERRA's oils and I trust them, but I refuse to use some of their products. I am very picky about ingredients! I emailed a two page email to doTERRA with this info back in APril and NO response. I wish they would take carageenan out of their products!!! Also, please note I am not trying to start a war here, and will probably be banned from this site for posting this, but I am here for the same reason as all of you-to live a healthy lifestyle!!!

Here are some notes and links I have saved.

"Although derived from a natural source, carrageenan appears to be particularly destructive to the digestive system, triggering an immune response similar to that your body has when invaded by pathogens like Salmonella. The result: "Carrageenan predictably causes inflammation, which can lead to ulcerations and bleeding," explains veteran carrageenan researcher Joanne Tobacman, MD, associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Illinois School of Medicine at Chicago. She says the food ingredient irritates by activating an immune response that dials up inflammation."
"As you can see, buying lowfat is not a good idea and not just for the fact that you are losing the valuable whole fats that satiate and steady the blood sugar. By opting for lowfat or alternative dairy products, consumers are choosing instead to consume a toxic additive that is a likely carcinogen! - See more at: http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/the-ingredient-allowed-in-organic-food-that-can-cause-cancer/#sthash.uUReIffA.dpuf

"In her presentation, Dr. Tobacman said that her research has shown that exposure to carrageenan causes inflammation and that when we consume processed foods containing it, we ingest enough to cause inflammation in our bodies. She explained that all forms of carrageenan are capable of causing inflammation. This is bad news. We know that chronic inflammation is a root cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and cancer."

"Even Dr. Andrew Weil has been telling people to avoid carrageenan since 2002. Carrageenan is so toxic and inflaming to the human digestive system that this food additive is formally classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (part of the World Health Organization) as a potential human carcinogen. Scientists first discovered that carrageenan causes gut inflammation as far back as the 1960′s. Inflammation is a very serious condition as it is a primary symptom in IBS, Crohn's Disease, ulcerative colitis, and colon cancer as well as dozens of other diseases.
I havce MANY, MANY more links saved if anyone would like them. Again, I URGE you all to do your own research and do that is best for you and your families. I will not use products with carageenan or any known toxins/carcinogens!
And, for the record, doTERRA is a BUSINESS, they are allowed to tell people whatever they want. Their job is to sell product! Just like all of the other companies that claim their products are "all natural". I really wish doTERRA would do their research on carageenan. I have a friend that started a FB group about this with over 150 members and they are going to start a petition soon to send to doTERRA.Maybe they will remove this from their products after the petition.
