If you have the surgery then you need to follow the doctors directions. The reason they give you the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory is keeping the eye clean from infection and the swelling down for the healing. You can do all this with the oils. I would use the Immortelle around the eye bone, and the Frankincense under the tongue twice a day (2 drops each time), I would also use OnGuard on the bottom of my feet and the cleanliness of my home. I would take the GX first and the PB after.
Using the oils in place of your meds is not my recommendation, I am just telling you what I would do.

Am I correct in taking both at the same time?  I have some loose stools, gas and "rumbles" in my intestines and can't tell if this is caused by the GX Assist cleansing or whether the yeast is getting out of hand. :(

I am going the surgery route because my vision is so poor I can't see and it isn't safe for me to drive.  The doctors assure me that they have known of no cases where cataracts have dissolved.  Perhaps they could be kept from getting worse, but not cured. 

Happily, the first eye now has 20/20 vision. :)
