Re: [Everything doTERRA] Replacement for Ibuprofen and Advil

I gave considerable thought to even allowing your post onto this forum and then realized of course that you were attempting complete honesty if regards to what you have tried in curing your own health problems.
I can tell you one thing for certain, if on the 2nd evening of your cold you finally took Advil after listing the long list of oils over a 48hr period, you used too many oils and gave none of them a sufficient chance to work. The oils are natural and not a synthetic sympathetic medication and because of this, yes it will take longer but it sounds like if you did not get immediate results you simply used something different wanting the immediate relief. Had you created a protocol for your head cold and stayed with it you would have received amazing results, in my opinion.
I respect your opinion but never in my wildest dreams would I consider taking an over the counter medication that would give that immediate relief that you are looking for and also do damage to my major organs over time. I know you are talking about a one time shot and that it won't hurt anything just once and that will be a determining factor for everyone reading your post.
The minute that I feel a cold coming on I first throw back my head and drop lemon directly onto the back of my throat. I get immediate relief and chances are the cold will go no further. However, if it does I then start a protocol based on the following:
Gargle with 2 tbsp coconut oil, 2 drops oregano, 2 drops onguard, gargle at least 30-60 seconds or as long as you can and then spit and rinse, repeating as needed.
I fix 4 powerful capsules and keep them in the refrigerator until I am ready for them: I use equal drops (at least 4-5) of oregano, thyme, melaleuca and wild orange. If the terrible cough is already present (you have waited to long) then I add Myrrh to the capsule. Keeping in the refrigerator will make it so they don't dissolve.
Take the capsule every 3 hours with hot soup (preferable chicken noodle) or some form of nourishment.
Run the diffuser with your choice of oils, one option would be Breath and Rosemary.
Now, you would do well to take 24 hours of rest and healthy food in order to fight the bacteria or Virus (add Mellissa).

As for your wife and her desire to try the medical approach you just have to let it go. We have the tools to help our body heal itself, but we have to be aggressive and consistent and also positive in our desire to get well naturally.

The whole idea for this forum is for all of us to learn and progress in taking over our health and wellness.  Thank you for sharing and being open in regards to your opinions and beliefs.

Blessings,
Pat

This past week I had a serious case of a head cold.  I took many
recommendations from this group and other blogs to reduce the symptoms
of a cold, but really didn't find a very good solution for reducing
imflammation like Ibuprofen and Advil can.  I tried about every
combination that I can across using Frankensince, Lavendar, Past
Tense, Wild Orange, Lemmongrass, White Fir, On Gaurd, Digestzen,
Breathe, Purify, etc.  I used many different combinations, different
layering, diffused, inhaled, applied topically, used heating pad,
drained sinuses with netti pot, tried nearly every suggestion of how
to give relief to a headache from a head cold (tried nearly every
suggestion from this group).  I finally couldn't stand it anymore, and
tried Advil, and holy cowl, what difference.  My pain completely went
away, and the pressure in my head was relieved.  I cannot tell you how
hard I tried to stay away from over the counter drugs, but in this
case, I was left with no other option.  I am not saying that the oils
didn't give me some relief, but it wasn't nearly as dramatic as taking
Advil.  I will probably get bashed for this, but I think I may have
been wrong in totally eliminating over the counter drugs to solve some
problems.  I think there needs to be a balance.  If I can solve a
health problem with oils, that will be my first choice.  If I am not
getting the relief I need, I will look at other options, and I would
dare say that Ibuprofen/Advil are tough to compete against for
reducing inflammation and body pain.  I know some of you will ask if I
used Frankensince, because some have claimed it is the best solution
for reducing Inflammation.  I applied Frankensince on my head, my
neck, my feet, took many drops internally, and it just couldn't give
me the relief I needed, and I took it very regulary, nearly every two
hours.  Really, I almost felt like I was over dosing on Oils, I was
using so many different kinds, and in so many different ways.

In all fairness to the oils, once I stated getting cold symptoms, I
slammed my body with oils for two solid days, and except for some left
over symptoms, my cold lasted about 2-3 days; which is amazing.  Even
though my wife is dealing with different physical problems, her cold
lasted several weeks.  She finally had to get an antiobiotic to
address her infection; which, had other side affects like a yeast
infection.  I tried to help my wife know what to do, but she didn't
start early enough, and wasn't consistent enough with the oils, and as
a result, her cold lasted much longer.  When people are really sick,
they don't want to be told what to do; especially, from their spouse.
She received an infection, and just couldn't kick it with the oils, no
matter what we did (we used lots of Oregano too).  I tried to
encourage her, but that only goes so far, so when I got the cold, I
was determined to kick it in 2-3 days.  Even though most of it was
done with oils, I did use Advil toward the end(2nd day) when I
couldn't stand it anymore, and it really made a big difference in
giving me some relief.  I will also say that I usually get a sinus
infection when I get a head cold, and even though I give credit to the
oils for preventing a sinus infection, it wasn't without a ton of work
using the oils consistently to avoid a head cold.  I know each person
is different, with different physical issues to consider, so what I
did may not work for someone else, but I thought it was worth sharing
my person experience using oils to solve a head cold.
