I don't know for sure why the cotton socks, I use a cotton blend. I found this recipe when someone told me to use Vicks for a cough - I looked on the bottom of a baby Vicks bottle and it had these 3 oils in it. So I used doTerra oils instead. The same person told me Vicks and then put socks on. So I tried the oils and socks on me, and everyone I knew with a cough. Worked every time!

Also put cotton socks over feet after applying the oils mentioned.

We have used eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary applied in layers on the
bottom of the feet and front of feet at the toe line for coughing. This
has worked every time for my two grandchildren ( 8 mths and 3 yrs old) their
31 year old Daddy and the 61-yr old grandmother.
