Right now I am suffering from severe sinusitis and read the following on Everythingessential.me
To address infection and symptoms (medium):
· 2 drops lavender
· 2 drops melaleuca
· 2 drops rosemary
Apply topically with a cotton swab inside the nostrils or mix the above with a cup of warm water and, using a Neti pot (nasal irrigation device available at most drug stores) irrigate the nasal passages. (I underlined for emphasis)
When I read this I was reminded of when I would do saline sinus rinses and got some temporary relief for similar problems and the addition of EO's just sounded perfect! I thought I had found the RIGHT THING for me! (Isn't that what we are advised to do? Find the oils/method that works for you as an individual?).
I mentioned this to my wife who was adamant that she has been told very strongly that EO's were NEVER to be used inside the nostrils, but she is all for the saline rinse (her family introduced me to saline nasal rinses years ago).
So, I am not talking about sticking an icepick deep down in my head, I am talking about reasonable, careful and pain-free use of EO's in the outer ear and in the nostrils.
