[Everything doTERRA] Re: Brother thinks oils are like drugs

I like the evolutionary biology argument.  The volatile aromatics that make up essential oils have evolved over millions of years to provide some sort of benefit to the plant (e.g., prevent/cure illness, ward off herbivores, etc.)  Our species has also evolved alongside plants for hundreds of thousands of years, and the same volatile aromatics have some sort of (often similar) effect on our biology as well (e.g., antibacterials, antiviral, and all the other anti-effects that research is showing these volatile aromatics have).  For me it's not an issue of "believing in the oils"; it's more of an issue of believing in the experience of people over several thousand years that the chemicals in plants can heal us, and belief in the clinical experience and research that is specifically being done with essential oils as they relate to healing and otherwise affecting certain health conditions.

How do I respond to this?  He doesn't think we should experiment on more serious illnesses like cough (pertussis) but that it's OK on milder stuff like headache or light muscle aches.
