I absolutely love the lotus so it must be very frustrating if you aren’t ale to just stick it on whenever you want! I did find that if I filled the well any further then the “fill line” then it wouldn’t mist. You have probably already looked at this but maybe try putting less water in when filling? I haven’t read the rest of this thread so maybe on completely the wrong track. My lotus has withstood several drops, knocks and all round brutish behaviour and it is still going strong. I know that the same goes for my IPCs. I don’t think I have ever cleaned mine either…oops! I hope you get it going again.

I've only had mine about two months, maybe less.
I do not run it dry. It won't go that long, anyway. I never fill past the fill line, either.
When I say I have to clean it, I'm not talking about anything aesthetic, I'm saying it will not mist unless I brush off the metal circle. If you look inside while it's running without mist, you'll see the water moving like a water fountain, but no mist.
I wrote to doTerra about it, asking if I was doing something wrong. They told me to use lemon oil with water. That did not help--at least, I don't want to diffuse lemon all the time. I'm often diffusing rosemary, vetiver, Balance, Citrus Bliss, Purify, but I'll run lemon once a week and still have this problem.
The directions said NOT to use distilled water. We do have a water softener. At this moment our water is hard because I've not put more salt in. But, I've had this problem with both our soft water and hard water.
Any more suggestion? I have written to doTerra again--they said in their reply a month ago to write again if their several suggestions didn't work. Just wanted to see if anyone else had similar problems and what has helped.
Thanks.
